A quick synopsis of the book: Told from alternating povs, Benson and Mike are a couple who live in Houston. When Mike finds out his estranged father is dying in Osaka, he flies to Japan, even though his mother is just arriving for a visit in Houston. Benson is left to deal with her. The experience changes them all.
